EXHIBITION
You Come | Taken FromJuly 7, 2006

ARTIST'S STATEMENT
With this body of work I want to transform the role of the viewer by changing them from a passive viewer to an
active participant in the exhibition. I want to play with the ideas of man and machine, so all of the arms come
off the wall from the same man made plumbing fixtures. I feel that if every arm comes from the same place it will
suggest the militaristic mind. I use the mannequin arms holding actual guns, and the human arms with their finger
as the gun to suggest the more humanistic role of a gun. I want these to be beautiful objects doing not beautiful
things, very characteristic of human nature. I chose clay as a medium because of its human-like qualities and the
capability of a dialogue between the material and the maker- the objects and the viewer.I am presenting a situation and hope to evoke a realization in each individual. This body of work is essentially about you. Using light as a metaphor, I am creating a confrontational point between the objects and the viewer. At that moment, I have taken away choice. This work is about personal choice, and worldly choice.
