Arunas Chesonis, Benefactor
Arunas Chesonis serves as Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of PAETEC Holding Corp., and is responsible for the vision, leadership, and direction of the company. Within five years of founding PAETEC in May 1998, Arunas led the company to achieve the number two ranking in the 2003 Deloitte Fast 500 list of the fastest-growing public and private technology companies in North America. In 2001, he was awarded the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award, and in 2006, received the Herbert W. Vanden Brul Entrepreneurial Award by the College of Business at Rochester Institute of Technology.
Mr. Chesonis holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, an MBA from the William E. Simon Graduate School of Business at the University of Rochester, and an Honorary Doctorate of Laws from the University of Rochester. He is Co-chairman of the Sustainable Energy Revolution Program Advisory Council at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and serves as trustee at the Harley School, Rochester Institute of Technology and the University of Rochester.
Sarah Wood, Executive Director and Trustee
In her position as Executive Director of the Chesonis Family Foundation, Sarah is in charge of interfacing between the Chesonis Asset Trust and foundation programmatic work. This includes oversight of accounting, investments, and grant review with the foundation’s third party agent, as well as development of foundation vision and strategies. Her role involves integration of financial and human resources and interaction with other entities that have similar goals and values. She is responsible for researching the most effective ways to utilize foundation dollars to meet the vision of the organization.
Sarah holds a B.S. in Commerce from the University of Virginia and prior to the Chesonis Foundation worked in program development for the Blue Moon Fund, a private foundation that supports economic, cultural, and environmental approaches to resource use, energy use and urban development.
